Precancer cells in vagina one year after cervical cancer

Well, February 20th was my one year anniversary for my hysterectomy for cervical cancer. I had paps every 3 months and they looked fine besides the High Risk HPV. Well, my one year pap didn't look good. Precancerous cells in my vagina now. I'm waiting to get in to a new gyno-oncologist. I didn't like the last one. I'm pretty frustrated. I'm not really scared because at least this was caught early. What does scare me is the thought of the cancer reoccuring again and again. You know the stories. So, I'm just wondering if anybody else out there is going or has gone through the same thing.

Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. DId you have post-op radiation? One good thing (I know its hard to think there's such a thing) is that with 3 month exams...it must have been caught extremely early. The earlier the better.

Having said that, I understand how disheartening it is to have to prepare yourself for another fight so soon after facing the last one. Let us know when you'll be meeting with the new gyne/onco.

This is one of my biggest fears. I am fortunate that they caught the CIN3 when they did, but I am worried that it has spread within, or that the cells will reappear. I wish you the best of luck, and please keep us posted.

No, the gyno-oncologist I saw didn't do anything. That upset both me and my gynocologist. So I'm trying to find someone more proactive. I mean why wait until it's full blown cancer!? Right?!

I'm very sorry you're having to deal with this again and so soon. I think you (and your gyn) made the right move going with a new gyn/onc. It is very important that you feel comfortable and have a level of trust with him/her, and it sounds like neither of you had that with the previous one.

As Vega pointed out, you've likely caught things at an early stage when they are most treatable. And, you've kicked some patootie before, so we know you'll be able to again if necessary!
