Severe Pain

I had a full hysterectomy one year ago and until now.. Things have been great!

Recently I have been experiencing extreme pain on my left side where my ovary used to be. The pain lasts for several minutes and then subsides.

Help!

Re: Severe Pain

(((kain99)))

My full hysterectomy, do you mean you had a total hysterectomy (complete uterus with cervix) and BSO (bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, removal of both ovaries and tubes)?

You check endometriosis or adenomyosis on your survey as part of the reason for your hysterectomy. If you did have endometriosis, there could be some remaining that is now kicking up a fuss. It is possible there are some adhesions causing pain. If you have had endo and adheions that involved your ovary, it is possible a tiny piece of the ovary remained and it is now causing issues (you can look up Ovarian Remnant Syndrome for more information on this phenomena.) Is it possible you are actually have kidney or bladder issues?

I would suggest keeping a journal detailing your symptoms and make an appointment with your doctor. There are so many possibilities so be as specific as you can with your notes and take them with you to your appointment.

in there and keep us posted!

Re: Severe Pain

Also, could it possibly be your gallbladder?? A lot of us girls (i have noticed) seem to either have gallbladder issues right before or right after (within a year or two) of a hysterectomy... I did in 2007 Christmas.. I too, thought it was my ovary...

Take care you yourself and get to a Dr, please
