strange sensation in bladder/vagina post hysterectomy

Hi All

I am nearly 5 weeks post abdominal hysterectomy. have healed well and getting more active. First few weeks My bladder was really effected, (had huge fibroids crushing it). I had a sensation of something falling out of the vagina but that seems to be improving. However i am getting very strange sensations after i have a wee i feel like a pulsing palpitating sensation, and it takes some time to settle down any one else had this? I have been all checked out and have had a bladder and vaginal scan clear for uti etc. not painful just strange?? be grateful for some feedback

Yeah I get a weird kind of sensation at the tail end of peeing too. I was 3 weeks a few days ago. I had TAH BSO. Do u think it could be the vaginal cuff? I have no trouble going but just that weird sensation at the very end.

Wendy

Thanks for asking...I was coming on this am to ask that such question! I guess you are not alone.

I'm 5 weeks also, having a TAH(because of fibroids) and my sensation is really more like psharky's. The way that I have been explaining it....and it's hard to explain...is that at the end of peeing, it feels like a deep, heavy soreness.

It's not even a soreness, nor is it pain. It feels kind of 'weighty'???? It's just different. I just thought that it was because of all the moving of the bladder and that it is still healing.

I go to the doctor on Tuesday and that question is at the top of my list. I'll be sure to let you know what she says.

In the mean time....continue your recovery to a new life!!!!

hi pbandj

Yes today have not had so much of the palpitating and more of the heavy weighty feeling, then feels a bit loose and almost liquidy very weird. Actually spoke to a lady today who said her bladder took 3 months to fully settle, especially with the fibroid. Doc said the same thing, I have been ultra sounded bladder scanned and urine and blood checked consultant happy that its all just settling he did say it can be a long and gradual process. some ladies seem more effected than others, I am not anxious because i was fine pre fibroids and otherwise healing is good. Do you find the sensation makes you think you want to pee again? i can hold on and it does wear off a bit.

hi psharky.

I have kept my cervix and ovaries so not sure i would have a cuff? however still have stitches and have had some come out so yes possible the cuff? you are still very early on and as long as it,s not painful should wear off. Always see your doctor if you are concerned, I have lived at my doctors surgery this past month. This is all very slow healing but then they do mess around a lot inside with this op. we will get there.

Wendy,

if you have your cervix, then you do not have a cuff.

A cuff is what they did to the end of my vagina when they removed my cervix. Basically they just sew the opening shut (kinda like the end of a tube of toothpaste).

I think that regardless, there are lots, and lots of stitches and areas that are healing and it ALL feels weird inside (at least it does for me) as it heals.

Re: strange sensation in bladder/vagina post hysterectomy

Thanks olive.

Having very weird sensations in the bladder and vagina . Just impatient and thought I would be fully ok by now, Improving but very gradual. Hope you are ok and taking care. Have you still got that falling out sensation? mine is starting to improve ,upto end of last week|I had the sensation permanent but now just comes and goes. Can hold the bladder better but long way to go yet. Was convinced I still had the fibroids till I had the ultra sound last week!!!!! How i envy these ladies that feel great 5 to 6 weeks out!! makes me feel anxious. At least we can take comfort in knowing we are not alone.

Girls the palpitations you are feeling are from the nerves healing. I got those too, and then I remembered that I had gotten them when I sprained my foot.
