read it will make you laugh!

First of all I want to tell you all good luck!!! This is a true story that happened to me 6 months post hyst. I had to have my ovaries removed...

I arrived to the hospital signed papers and was taken to pre op where I was given my IV and prep for my surgery. I am very nervous and asking many questions...I had very nice nurses who answered all my questions. Okay, my OR nurse comes in and says "it's time honey" I kissed my hubby goodbye and I was on my way....

I get to the OR nervous, and freezing! I am being hooked up to the telemetry (heart monitor) and my eyes are watching everything everyone is doing...the anesthesiologist is about to administer my anesthisia when a phone starts to ring...yes, in the ER. everyone is looking, and saying turn it off the dr. will have our heads for this. I'm very surprised not knowing what to think. When all of a sudden I realize it was MINE!!!! When the OR nurse came to get me I forgot to give my hubby my phone. The nurse said it's okay and took it out and gave it to my family...

I found out 3 days later it was my oldest niece she was calling to tell me good luck! LOL Just thought you all might enjoy my story...I will call it :The darndest thing happen in the OR" lol take care everyone. I am headed back to the OR soon...UGH! another hernia. Does anyone have a funny story of there own to share?

I love it...That is so funny!! Can you imagine if it went off when you were in surgery? That would have definitely puzzled everyone in the OR. But where may I ask was the cellphone?? Were you holding it or something?

Re: read it will make you laugh!

When I was being wheeled down to surgery 3 weeks ago I was starving. I noticed the orderly at the foot of the bed seemed to be hiding something that he was carrying. I lifted my head a little to get a peek and it was CAKE. I said is that cake? I'm starving and you have cake? Give me a sniff of that cake. We all cracked up! 3 days later my roomate was brought a birthday cake before she left. We were both being discharged. She gave me a big hunk to take home and boy did I gobble it down!

Re: read it will make you laugh!

It was on the pre-op bed I was on before they transferred me to the OR
bed. The pre-op bed was still in the OR. It's so funny now! I'm glad it didn't ring while I was having surgery. lol

Re: read it will make you laugh!

Oh my goodness... That is funny as well. Were they going to eat the cake while you were having surgery?? I love cake and so I don't think I could just sniff it if I was hungry. They would have to wrestle it away from me..

Keep the humorous stories coming sisters! I love to laugh and it such good medicine for the soul!

Re: read it will make you laugh!

They would not even give me a darn sniff! It was st. Patricks day and I guess there was a party somewhere. Lol. I guess my reaction cracked them up.

Then in the operating room just before they put me under I say , I'm a massage therapist and this is your last chance for a massage cuz i'm taking 8 weeks off. (I really am one). If it wasn't so late at nite (mine was an emergency) I would have had a taker. Lol

Re: read it will make you laugh!

lol yes you could have! it's good to laugh isn't it? Oh, I have another "true story for ya" my last surgery...I was in pre op my hyubby was with me and I was very nervous. No, matter how many surgeries I am still nervous! So, the anesthesiologist just leaves, and the pre op nurse can see how nervous I am. So, she gets an order from the dr. to give me something to calm my nerves. Well I asked her if it would make me out of it? She says hhhmm...maybe. It will relax you for sure. So, right after she injects it into my IV I feel it...I start to laugh uncontrolably...then when when I spoke I thought my voice sounded like a duck!! Yes, a duck!!! lol lol lol my hubby, and the nurse laughed so, hard....I laughed and kept saying I really sound like a duck listen when I speak. Oh, man I am laughing now. my hubby asked if they where gonna give me the laughing potion again for my upcomming surgery...Have a good day, and a good laugh!
