Post op abdominal pain during distance running

Well ladies, I am four months out from my TLH. I have been experiencing what I would describe as more intense than menstrual cramps in my abdomen whenever I run farther than 5 miles and faster than frozen molasses. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and when will it go away?!

My secondary issue is weight gain and slowing of my running pace. I am heavier than I was pre op. I would love to hear from anyone with insight or encouragement!

Re: Post op abdominal pain during distance running

I am 10 weeks post op. I've just starte jogging and don't do more than 2 miles yet. I've been speed walking since 6 weeks and I too feel some sharp pains when I run, but I don't push it when I feel that. That's why it's taken me longer to start running. My pains are where the most internal work was done, so I know it's healing. Don't push, especiallly with sharp pains. Better to let it all heal. Believe it or not, I lost weight before I even started running. I knew I would be inactive and put myself on a 1200 calorie a day diet. Kashi bar, yogurt, walnuts, spinach salad, fruit. That's about it and it has helped me a lot. Don't be discouraged. The more time we take now, the better off we will be down the road. Hang in there!!!

Re: Post op abdominal pain during distance running

Thanks for the words of encouragement! You are correct that we need to take more time now so we will be better later but with the weather getting nicer, it's that much harder
I wish you a speedy recovery!
