TAH Blood Clot?

I had a TAH on April 6th. Ever since the surgery I have noticed a semi-hard bump below my belly button. At post-op my doctor said it could be where he stitched everything closed or it might be a blood clot. We are going to keep an eye on it. How do I know which? What should I do? How can they get rid of it? How dangerous is it?

thanks

Re: TAH Blood Clot?

You might never know which it is. A blood clot might likely possibly be absorbed again by your body while the stitches might simply dissolve. How long it takes for it to disappear might give the Dr a clue as to which it was. If your Dr gave you directions regarding what to do about it, s/he knows better what to do and I would follow their advice. If it was terribly dangerous, I'm guessing that the Dr would have you do more than just keep an eye on it.

Thanks so much, so much to think about. This has been a bigger ordeal than I thought. Hormonal/emotional swings, pain and sleepliness are just the beginning. I hope you are healing up.
