Adenomyosis and IC

Hello. I have also heard that a lot of women with adenomyosis have ic too. Do any of you ladies have gas and bloating too?

What medications have you tried for ic? Have you ever tried the change in diet (it's impossible to follow)?

Thanks.

Adenomyosis and IC

I also have a lot of gi issues including gas and bloating. I use Miralax and Benefiber with my docs recommendation to help keep me more regular. I am following the IC diet due to the flare. I agree that it is very hard to follow but there are definitely certain foods to avoid and they include cranberry juice, soda, tea, and coffee. All of these are immediate triggers for me. My doc said cranberry juice or pills is a huge irritant to an inflamed bladder. I try to follow it as much as I can. There are some foods that are worse than others that I try to avoid. If you go to the IC website(google it, can't think of name)it lists foods by groups and tells you which are the worst. I agree it is tough and I call it the "If you really like it, you probably can't have it diet"but it does help. My doctor has me on ELmiron which is helping some. He is also scheduling me for another cystoscopy with bladder distention under anesthesia(thank goodness) in early June. Was scheduled earlier but other problems have made me push it back until I know what is happening. I would definitely try to find a good urologist because it took me three before I found one who understands IC and is willing to try different things. The first one said it is in your head, here is the name of a good therapist who will help you. My urologist does say that this is difficult to diagnose, treat, and get relief from. There are several newer treatment options and if one doesn't work, he said we will try the next one. I hope this helps you some. I have had to learn through trial and error more about this disease than I ever thought I would.
