mammogram

I'm 28 and am scheduled for a TAH/BSO/Bladder Tack on 6/1/10. I'm extremely overweight, mostly due to several hormone imbalances. I'm planning on starting over and getting myself in better health after surgery (I've started a little now but plan to delve into it majorly after surgery). Has anyone got a mammogram before their surgery just to have a baseline? I've never had one before but am wondering if I shouldn't do it and have my yearly lab work (cholesterol, sugar, etc.) done before my surgery. Any thoughts?

Re: mammogram

I think mammograms are for women 40 and up. However, perhaps you should discuss your good questions with your family doctor.

Re: mammogram

I think you're probably not in the age bracket for a baseline mammogram but I think I get your thinking. After my surgery I went through and scheduled labs, exams of all sorts, even eye and dental, just to get everything off to a new start, to check them off the list. Sort of getting off to a good start. Don't know if you need before, could be after, too. But just talk to your Dr about what all makes sense to check. Good luck on your surgery.
