Incisional hernia repair, have surgery date

I now know my surgery date -- June 10th. Laparoscopic, as I think I mentioned, yay. And early in the morning. I'm not a morning person normally but it will be better for chances of getting to come home same day.

My doc said that if my pain was bad he might make me stay overnight. Hoping that isn't the case. If it is, I'll deal. I just miss my pets and my own home. I had nice nurses with the hyst and that was comforting. This surgery will be at a different hospital but one I have confidence in also.

I too have that nervousness about not wanting to have to have this one come undone. And though my abs have been flabby for quite some time, the hysterectomy and the swelly belly (and maybe the beginnings of what is now this hernia) made me reluctant and uncertain about doing abdominal exercises.

That, coupled with metabolic issues (hypothyroid and insulin resistant), have caused my weight to balloon. It's uncomfortable and depressing. I sure hope things will improve. Doctor told me that to do laparoscopic surgery they inflate your abdomen with gas, and then fluid fills up in the space where the gas was. So that's why you still have a swolllen tummy, until the fluid is reabsorbed. That might answer questions others have asked...

so, let's keep praying and supporting one another...

Re: Incisional hernia repair, have surgery date

I'm glad to hear you have a surgery date. Early morning is a good time, so hopefully they won't have time to get backed up in the various areas of the hospital.

to you. I hope you're able to do this as a day surgery so you can come home to your pets and be in your own bed. The less time spent in a hospital the better, right?
