Can't stop bleeding!!! I need support!

Has anyone had a similar experience? I had LSH back in September 2009, keeping my cervix. Since November 2009, I have been bleeding every 2 weeks for approximately 5-7 days at a time. I have had 3 silver nitrate treatments since and nothing seems to work. A week ago, I started spotting again and then 4 days ago, I had bright red blood that I had to wear a pad and it lasted for one day then stopped. No sign of anything yesterday and then hubby and I had sex last night and I was mortified. Blood, bright red blood, lots of it!! All my wants to do is another Silver Nitrate treatment. I don't think that having these treatments are working!!! Has anyone else gone thru this before??? Am I alone out here?? Please if anyone can offer some insight please let me know. I am getting depressed over this! This is BEYOND mini-periods!!! Thanks my Hystersisters for your support!

Re: Can't stop bleeding!!! I need support!

I remember reading something about this and I am copying it here. My doctor told me to have the cervix removed, because if I didn't I would probably eventually have surgery again to remove it.

"If you kept your cervix there's still a chance that women can continue to bleed every month afterwards because the cervix is part of the uterus and is the size of a coat button and can still contain linning. If you had endometriosis or adenomyosis for the diagnosis the risk is greater. Sometimes doctors will take care of the cervix during surgery by doing something to the linning to prevent continued periods after the hysterectomy. Basically when women keep their cervix and at least one ovary they can continue to bleed. Some don't think the bleeding is a big deal and just wear a liner that time. Other women had to go back in to get their cervix removed because the periods weren't mini at all."

Re: Can't stop bleeding!!! I need support!

I got the same information that rad44 posted from both by PCP and my OB/Gyn. It was for other reasons that I chose to have my cervix removed, but the above (as well as what you're experiencing) is a good reason.

If your current Dr isn't wanting to do more than another silver nitrate treatment, maybe a second opinion from a Dr not in the same office could help?

Keep us posted!
