Hernia?? 8 mo post op. My "Inny" Belly Button is now an "Outy". Please advise

Hi,
I had my LAVH 10/07/09. I only have the belly button incision and one by my right hip. I am one of the lucky ladies here to still be suffering from swelly belly at almost 8 months post op. On Mothers Day I had really bad swelly belly and when I went to get my clothes changed I noticed that my "inny" belly button was starting to puff out. It has not gone back in since. When i push on it it feels mushy like liquid is in the puffy area. Just curious if anyone else has had this and what your symptoms are. I don't want to go back to the doc again if I don't have to. Not sure if this is a incisional hernia or what. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I wish I had some info for you, but it might be something you need to run by your doc. Maybe another sister further out can chime in.

take care

Unfortunately no answer. I think that I would call your doctor. When I had a hernia, I just suddenly noticed this lump and it started really hurting. I had no idea but went to doc and he said hernia, needs surgery. I remember just waking up and suddenly it was there. I wish I had an answer other than call you doc but that is probably the best thing to do. Wishing you lots of luck. Hopefully it is just a minor thing.

Thanks for the replies ladies. There is no big bump, just the pain I have had left of belly button since beginning of recovery and of course "outy" belly button. When I get really bad swelly belly the area hurts and burns. I still have a few other lingering pains from surgery so I think it is time to suck it up and call the gyno. Guess I was just hoping it would all go away. Still far better off than I was a few months ago. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.

Thanks Zenyetta. So kind of you to think of me. I know that you have been through a lot since your surgery. Hope you are finally on the road to recovery.
