Re: Successful???

I had a TAH / BSO and have been on Vivelle Dot ever since. So far my dosage of 0.05 mg has done the job perfectly!

Re: Successful???

Can I ask how old you are and why you had surgery?

When I was suppressed on Lupron (ovaries shut down) and used add-back Vivelle (.05 mg) dot patch, I felt awesome!

Are you getting testosterone or progesterone?

It's hard reading so many stories that are not so positive...

Re: Successful???

There are many women who are successfully being treated with HRT. They are often the ones who we don't see posting on these boards, as they have "moved on" with their lives.

I have been reading your other posts, and noticed that you have a history of endometriosis. Have you been told that having a hysterectomy/oophorectomy will not cure endometriosis? This can make a difference in what kinds of HRT your Dr's will prescribe for you.

I wish there were some way that it could be determined who will be better off with HRT, and having their ovaries removed. It would certainly avoid a lot a heartache and disappointment that we see here so much.

Before I decided to have my surgery, I made sure there were no other options left for me to try. This option is final, it can't be reversed. It should be a "last option".

I wish you the best. If you decide to have the surgery, we will be here to help you the best we can during your recovery and HRT experience.

Re: Successful???

Yes, I assumed that the "success" stories aren't the norm as people have moved on; understandable. If I had opted out of Lupron suppression after all that I read, I wouldn't have some clarity that I have now. In other words, while my ovaries were shut down, I did great. Most blogs were horro stories about Lupron.

I do know that the surgery wouldn't "cure" my endo. My dysfunctional ovaries are my main problem and endo. is secondary, at least at this point.

I am being sure that I am researching and exploring every other option before surgery...that is final and there is no going back.

Re: Successful???

Hi, I used Lupron 6 mos. before the surgery and then a month into it I started add back ERT with Vivelle. I can say that I felt the exact same way after the surgery. My hunch is that if you felt good with the Lupron and add back ERT it should be the very much the same. Wish you the best!
