22 days post total hyster - still lots of pain

My OB said my uterus was 8x normal due to my fibroids with uterine wall. Needed a blood transfusion post op, I am wondering when I will be feeling better. Haven't been sleeping much as I am a side sleeper and can't sleep on my back long, probably because I am overweight. Pain meds make me so nautious and give me a terrible headache. Feel like I am 1 week out instead of 3. I miss feeling normal and feel like a mess.

Re: 22 days post total hyster - still lots of pain

Sounds like you didn't have an easy time of it, what with the size of the uterus and needing the transfusion and all. Some of us heal really fast, but for most of us it's slow. I didn't feel good at three weeks; there were days that I felt good but for the most part I had to take it really easy. I had to take pain meds up till about 3 1/2 weeks; so sorry you're not tolerating them. Have you tried icing your tummy? That helped me a lot with the pain. Hope it gets better for you soon, (((HUGS)))

Re: 22 days post total hyster - still lots of pain

Your situation sounds exactly like mine. I, too, had a HUGE uterus because of numerous large fibroids and had to have a blood transfusion post op. I can't take pain meds either, they make me extremely nauseated and anxious. I remember feeling like I would never feel normal again. I am only 33 years old and thought that my age would help me bounce back quicker after surgery - I was wrong. I had lots of pain and just felt out of it. It took me a good 5 weeks to begin feeling like myself again. Now, I am 3 months post op and I am doing so much better! My strength is back, my "head" has returned and I am working full-time. My main problem now is getting my hormone levels balanced and finding an HRT system that works for me. Hope you get to feeling better soon!
