adenomyosis symptoms?

Hello all! Just asking some ladies with "suspected" adeno about symptoms. Medical descriptions are very brief, so I'm not sure what falls under the adeno umbrella. I have the heavy, long, clotty, crampy. horribly painful periods. But I also have extreme fatigue, back and leg pain, all types of pain in abdomen (twinges, stabs, uterine pressure, fullness, excruciating cramps), more pain with exercise (I'm a runner), and in the last few months incredible pelvic pressure and pain which sometimes can throb. It seems that i get a few days where I feel better after my period, and then the next 3 1/2 weeks it gets steadily worse until the period comes again. I can hardly wait till they take the troublemaker out of there! It has been so long since I felt good, I can't even remember it. Just curious to see whether other ladies have experienced some of this. Thanx.

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

I was diagnosed with Andometetriosis 2 yrs ago with your same symptoms. It took me 10 yrs and changing Dctrs mutiple times to find someone that would find out what was wrong with me. They all looked at me like I was crazy because they couldn't or wouldn't find anything wrong with me. Sometimes I have these symptoms 3 wks a month. I am finally having my Tah on 6-30-10. I decided when it started controlling my life I needed to do something about it. Good Luck!

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

Are you tired of pretending to the world that everything is okay? I've stopping explaining, I think I'm in a "brushing it off because they don't want to understand phase". I'm terribly weary of acting like everything is ok (for my 9 & 11 years old boys sake). Some days all I want to do is stay in bed, but even well-meaning hubby says, "are you sure you we can afford for you to take days off?" It's a good thing I love that emotionally challenged man.

Have you been "diagnosed" with Adeno too? Do you have any cysts, fibroids or endo? I currently have several cysts, and endo as well. Scheduled for an LAVH on July 7th and lucky that I get the summer off anyways.

I have a female gyn/ob, but she's always so busy that you might get ten minutes and need to pick your questions carefully. Do you have gastro issues as well? I'm convinced that the nausea, indisgestion, bloating, diarhea/[u]constipation[u] is all connected to the adeno, but the gyn is ending me to a gastoenterologist. Good Luck on the 30th ANN76

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

hello girls...I was diagnosed with endometriosis 5 years ago. I am now 35 yrs old and underwent a TAH in feb of 2010. In 2005 i was preg. with my second son and they did surgery to remove endometial tumors that were attatched to my right ovary and tube. they ended up taking the ovary and tube and six inches of intestines bc there were also small endometrial tumors there. Luckily my little 18wk old fetus made it through the surgery. Now at 35 I had a TAH bc of more tumors attatched to other ovary..and also several other places. I had alot of the same symptoms you are experiencing. Sorry for rambling on so long, i wish you the best.

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

Yes, I was diagnosed with Ando not Endo. It has been very hard to explain to people WHY I am in pain and WHY I don't feel good. I have also had cycts when I have went to the emergency room for severe pain. I can't wait to take my life back away from this condition.

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

I feel exactly the same, it's almost like because our pain isn't visible, people have trouble getting it. I told my hubbie once it felt like I was pregnant with a very heavy, hot, lumpy piece of coal!

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

adenosufferer,

LOL at " felt like I was pregnant with a very heavy, hot, lumpy piece of coal!" I know exactly what you are experiencing. My Dr. said that she thought that was what I had because I spotting and cramping almost all the time. So she recommended the hysterectomy. On May 20th they took it all and I feel SOOOOO much better now. I am 51 and was most of the way through menopause anyway so I opted to have it all taken. Well that and I have cancer in my family and didn't want to have that to worry about at all. The pain is gone, the cramping is gone, the bloating is gone, the sore and tender breasts are gone, the crabbiness is gone. Well most of it! LOL.

My Dr. told me that the only sure fire way to diagnose Adeno is through the pathology report. Mine came back saying Adeno found. Plus when the Dr. got in there she found that my uterus had folded over backwards and she said that was causing some problems with my bowels and bladder. All problems are gone now. I'm 3 weeks tomorrow and am taking the recovery slow and steady doing what I can do, when I feel like doing it. I only have ONE chance to heal from this and I don't want to make any mistakes with it. Good luck to you and I look for you on the other side!

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

After a thermal ablation and being treated for fibroids for 2 years, I found a new doctor who diagnosed me with adeno.
I had an mri that confirmed it. I had all the same symptoms.
1 good week out of the month and hell the rest.
My surgery is scheduled for 6/23 and I am very scared, moody, depressed but also looking forward to this ending.
People do not understand. They think 'oh, she has cramps'
I explained it to my doctor as someone stabbing me in the uterus with a butcher knife and pulling it through me.
I found a female gynocological oncologist to do the surgery.
I am praying the bloating and bowel/constipation problems are related. Had the colonoscopy and everything came back fine. Tried every laxative, natural and otherwise - nothing works.
Good luck on your upcoming surgeries ladies -
Blondiem119 - so glad you are feeling better - thanks for those words of encouragement. My biggest fear is going through the surgery and still feeling weak and sick.

Re: adenomyosis symptoms?

bina160,
You are going to come out the surgery feeling some pain. Mine was in my back due to the catheter they put in during surgery. Depending on your Dr. they may get you right up and moving or, like my Dr. they may have you stay in bed until the next day, then remove the catheter (HEAVEN) and then you can get up and around. Some Dr.'s want the patients right up and moving around and some don't. Go figure.

From what I've read here, the ladies who have had more repairs seem to have more discomfort and pain then the ladies who didn't have repairs. I had no repairs and other than a light tugging feeling (internal) here and there, I feel great. You will too!
