Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

If your hysterectomy was between Jun 14-Jun 20,2010 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

I got home from the hospital at 4:30 today from my complete laproscopic hystercotemy yesterday, June 14th. I got very little sleep in the hospital with the alarm on my pump going off every 30 minutes. Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.

I'm thankful I found HysterSisters it was so helpful leading up with those pre-surgical jitters.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

Hi ladies~

I am still in the hospital as I had bad night due to lack of pain control. AND I just pee'ed an hour ago. My day nurse has been wonderful and been working with my doctors to make sure that we are on the right direction on pain control. I've walked four times and I think that is helping with the gas pain.

I am glad to be on the other side and I look forward to leaving the Castle tomorrow.

Did not sleep at all last nite. Looking forward to my own bed tonite. Very gassy. Looking forward to first BM. I had 2 IV's in my left hand. Just noticed a lump right below my wrist. Is this normal?? Hope everyone else is resting comfortably.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

Aww, I included a link to a pic of me in bed and lost my post

Anyway, I had my TAH by incision this morning and I've been doing AMAZING! My pain level is tolerable - nothing worse than typical period cramping, which has always been awful for me. When I first woke up in recovery, my pain level was not quite as bad as the worst cramps I've ever had, but it was close Since then, I've made good friends with my Dilaudid button XD

No nausea, but I keep passing out in the middle of doing anything. I'm pretty comfortable typing on my netbook in bed, though.

I'm still catheterized and I'm fearing them taking it out and making me walk to the bathroom XD Sounds like a ticket to Hurtytown.

I have a room to myself, and my boyfriend is snoring away in a cot next to my bed. He has been absolutely awesome to me I love him so much.

In other news, I was not allowed to keep my uterus, but I have photos I can keep. It doesn't even look like a body part. Combined with my fibroids, it was a little larger than a nerf football. I'm so glad it's out!

I hope the rest of the Team 6-15 ladies are doing well And good luck healing, everyone!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

to the Post-op forum! I’m so glad you found your way to this thread.

I'm sitting with my cup of coffee, thinking back on my own early recovery. I am remembering how I felt when I came home from the hospital after my surgery . I had so many questions and felt like my life revolved around pain and bowel movements and emotions. It was wonderful to come to HysterSisters and find out that other women were experiencing the same things.

The purpose of this thread is to give you a place to update us on how you’re doing as you recover and begin to heal from your surgery. I will be hanging out with you in this thread, to keep you company while you get through your initial recovery period. We have a lot of resources on this website, and one of the things I’ll do is help you find the best places to post your questions and concerns.

If you have questions about how to deal with something in your recovery or whether something is normal, the best way to get support is to start a new thread in the Post-op forum. There, your questions will be seen by hundreds of women, many of whom have already successfully gotten past your current stage of recovery. In this thread, everyone is at pretty much the same stage.

I’ll be checking in every day to see how things are going and provide some hugs and encouragement for you.

I’m looking forward to being your “cruise director” for this journey toward post-hysterectomy health and happiness!

There will be some hostesses (including yours truly) present as well to help answer some questions and point you to some helpful resources on our website.

Hope to see you there!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

Been home for a couple of hours, had to take a nap before I could post. My TAH was Monday, I also ended up with LSO. My fibroid filled uterus was the the size of a 25 week pregnancy! Everyone was shocked. Pain has been tolerable-had to switch for Perocet to Vicodan because of really dad nausea. Moving around okay just really sore and peeing fine-just want to poop! Gas pains are present, thank God for Gas-X! My DH has been awesome! I am really blessed that it's all over and I am on the road to recovery. Hope everyone is doing well

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jun 14-Jun 20,2010

Day two postop...... moving better, peeing fine. No #2 yet... hubby went to pick up OTC meds for that.
I am staying in bed. Pain is controlable.
MD called today, twice. He had my lab reports and was just checking in. Progress is great.
A little bit of a bleeding nose, we are keeping tabs on that, doc is aware.
Thanks for all the help and support.
