taking it easy in the sun

I am 13 days PO and decided I would get outside and catch a little vitamin D while recouperating.
What I found out was that it is not a good idea. I got too hot. Stepped on the first step of the pool...became very light headed (thank god my husband was there)....had to rest on the grass before going back inside. A new reason to take it easy...even more than you think you need to.
Have a great day!

Re: taking it easy in the sun

Hi hbright! Yikes, sounds like abit of a close call! It's amazing how low our tolerance is for just about anything, in those early post-op days, isn't it! I was the same! And I am finding it even more important than ever to drink lots of water, as the weather is so hot when the sun comes out.

I hope today was a great day for you, wishing you continued good healing!

Re: taking it easy in the sun

Thanks Fire~
Hard lesson learned. When I got to the dr for check up on Friday they told me I am moving way to fast..although it doesn't feel like it.
Hence I am slowing down and brought out the needle point and just taking it super easy.
I see you had a LSH...I know it isn't good to compare recovery since I had a TAH but I am wondering if my expectations are running too high.
Well it is summer and I will just take it day by day.

Re: taking it easy in the sun

One of the meds I am just finishing has a warning on it about avoiding prolonged sun... I wonder if one of your meds could have contributed to your lightheadedness after being in the sun?

Re: taking it easy in the sun

I asked my doc....no warnings on meds. Doc said I am just weaker than my mind is willing to admit. Said I needed to load up on protien and iron. I feel better today. Just 16 days PO so hoping next week is better. My husband going back to work tomorrow but I have two young adult son's at my beck and call so I am gonna take advatage of them.
