Lapro TAH questions..
You probably can tell I am a newbie, still trying to figure out all the abbr. So, I will just tell you, I am 41 years old and 6 days Post Lapro Total Hysterectomy. Came home after one night in the hospital thinking this isnt as bad as I thought, until I got home. Next day I was in agony for the next 3 days, however most of the pain was contributing from the carbon dioxide they pump into your body during surgery which I thought would never find its way out. Now, I feel better, just a little abdominal sorness & fatigue. My question is, I find whatever I eat, goes straight through me, no need for stool softners at all! And when I do eat, I am full so fast. I am not concerned, just wondering if that is normal. Also, I was a runner before surgery, my last accomplishment was winning my 2nd Masters with a time of 22 minutes in the 5-K. I am nervous it will be impossible to get back to where I was as a runner...anyone else out there relating to this?

Re: Lapro TAH questions..
Hi
Can't help you with the bowel question. I didn't have that happen.
Re the running: I am not a runner, however at 3 months post op i feel better than I ever have and I have gone back to exercising at curves like i was before surgery. I went back at 9 weeks post. It did take a couple weeks to get back to where I was before. I did take the whole 8-9 weeks to feel better though, i was very easily fatigued up until 7-8 weeks. Don't worry, just listen to your body. You will know when it is ready to return to your running. It sounds like you must have been in good physical shape to start with and I think that is very important.

Wow, you really made my morning! I was starting to get worried, just seems like I read so many negatives & not enough encouraging info. That is terrific you are back to where you were before surgery, I know you are happy. I was thinking it would be 8 months before I would be able to run, but I guess maybe a little sooner. You just never know if you will ever be the same, but sounds like you certainly are! I know my summer is shot, but hey, living in the South with upper 90 temps...too hot to run anyway. Looks like perhaps by the Fall I will be on my way. THANK YOU so much for the encourgement & I hope to follow in your path. I wish you continued good health my friend!
