Prolapsed Uterus

I have a prolapsed uterus. My hysterectomy is scheduled for July 30th. When they did the vaginal ultrasound last week my cervix was about two inches inside my vagina.

I had a really busy day at work yesterday....lots of lifting and stair climbing. Today something is on its way out of me...about a half inch out now. I am having mild bleeding and a little clotting. No pain but a little discomfort.

Should I be conerned enough to go to the ER or should I just take it easy and rest and call my doctor Monday morning?

Anyone had similar issues? I'm not sure what I should do since its weekend.

I also have a cyst on my right ovary the size of a large orange.

Re: Prolapsed Uterus

Hi I had my hysterectomy for prolapse eight years ago. Mine was very severe - my cervix was hanging about an inch or two outside my body most of the time by the time I was diagnosed, and then I had to wait ten days for my surgery date to come.

I was told just not to do any lifting, to rest, and try to lie with my pelvic area higher than my head for a few minutes every day. I used an inversion table, but you can create the same effect mounding up pillows in a "ramp" against your bed and lying with your feet on the bed and your head next to the floor. It felt wonderful when I did it.

As long as you don't do any heavy lifting, the only 'danger' is that you are going to be more susceptible to infections, both bacterial and yeast, in the current state. I'd take it easy but call your doctor Monday to let him/her know things have progressed.

Good luck with your surgery!
