BSO yesterday

I was able to come home the same day. My belly hurts pretty bad, but I'm thinking that it's more from the air trapped in there than anything else right now.

I had a big cyst on my right ovary, my left ovary was up high attached to my fallopian tube by the endo, part of my fallopian tube had prolapsed into my vagina and grown into the wall of the vagina.

I have a follow up with my surgeon in 2 weeks.

Take it easy and rest as much as you can.

Re: BSO yesterday

Thank you, Kim. My bladder isn't working like normal, but at least it's working some this time. The nurse told me it's normal for the flow to stop and start. The anesthesia puts the organs asleep, so I guess that will just take time to get back to normal. I'm not feeling terrible until I try to get up and walk around, so I'm trying to remember to take it easy.

I'm wondering if I should be drinking my soy chocolate milk. Does it imitate estrogen? I hadn't thought of that before. I need to do some research; I just can't sit for long right now.

Hystersisters has been a huge blessing.

Thanks again,
Patty

Re: BSO yesterday

I hope your recovery goes well. Mine was pretty quick so maybe yours will be, too. I'm not sure about the soy with no ovaries. Are you trying to get estrogen or to avoid it?

Re: BSO yesterday

Avoid it. I need to do some research. I'm staying on my natural progesterone cream, but was drinking soy choc milk for the vit d (my levels were low and dairy doesn't sit well in my stomach anymore) Since I'm supposed to avoid estrogen, I didn't want to take anything that would be converted to estrogen. Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

I haven't had a bm yet. Took a stool softener the last 3 nights. I've been taking the pain meds (in anticipation of the bm), but I'm not hurting too bad, so I'm going to try to start weaning off those. I started milk of magnesia this morning and will take another dose in a little while. I'm hoping my bowels start moving today (don't want to go in to see the dr)

Re: BSO yesterday

I think soy can be estrogenic so maybe rice, almond, or hazelnut milk? Some people are more sensitive to soy and soy type foods but I've wondered if that depends on whether you have ovaries or not. The whole plant hormone thing is confusing. I hope you're feeling a little better now.
