Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

Hi Camper! I won't say whether it's okay or not but I will say this: My MIL is a nurse. She came to stay with me recently and even took me to my appointment to remove my staples. She bought a bottle of wine for her and I to share in celebration of getting my staples out. I had two glasses, which she said was okay. (Honestly, it really helped me sleep easier!) But I wouldn't suggest getting tanked. I'm not sure of your tolerance level either. Keep all those things in mind.

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

I was wondering about that. I would love a rum and coke, or a strawberry daiquiri!

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

Yeah my MIL is awesome and crazy all in the same go. When she had her hyster back in the 80s, the meds she was on wasn't helping much and *her* nurse suggested a glass of wine to go with. So she passed it on. (This is not medical advice! Just story telling!)

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

A couple of nights ago my husband brought home a wonderful Italian Cabernet. We sat outside on the porch as the sun went down and enjoyed good wine and conversation. The evening enabled me to feel as if I was getting close to "normal" again.
I don't think 1 glass will hurt you. I do however suggest making your first glass during your recovery a very special and tasty one!

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

You know, I have heard and read that there are some health benefits to drinking a little wine. In moderation of course, but actually alcohol has been used for medicinal purposes for years.

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

Well tomorrow will mark 3 weeks since my TAH and I did have 2 margaritas last night. They were delicious and since I am not taking any medication I figured it was ok to treat myself! Enjoy yours!

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

I'm going with cranberry juice and vodka... two birds with one stone I figure
1) fighting UTI
2)having vodka

Two really great reasons in my book LOL!!

Re: When is it ok to have a drink?

i'm a beer girl so i've been having my evening bud since about 2 wks out. doc knows i like having one or two after dinner and said to keep it down to no more than three and sip, no guzzling it down. my doc is pretty easy going though and i have met a few medical profs that don't agree with him.
