Will hormones change me?

I'm only 29, and having everything removed. The Dr. says I will need the hormone replacement.
Will it change me at all?

I don't know any woman who has had a hysterectomy, ad I asked my grandmothers and some aunts who have already gone through menopause about hormones. No one had any answers for me, so here I am asking here.

Re: Will hormones change me?

The short answer is, the *right* hormones will allow you to feel like the same old you. The wrong hormones can make you feel like anything but yourself. So, it's important to work closely with your doctor to find the best HRT for you.

Good luck with your surgery!

Re: Will hormones change me?

I AM 37 and had everything removed too. If it wasn't for that 1 little pill every morning I would be a raging lunatic. My Dr started me on a low dose .625 and am at 1.25 now with no hot flashes etc until about 8PM. I can't imagine life without hrt!

Re: Will hormones change me?

I am on the .625 and found it too strong - dizzy and nausea. I am using half the dose now for the past two weeks. I am not sure if it is worth not having hot flashes. I am seeing my dr today also.

Re: Will hormones change me?

Now, I am a lot older than you, and everyone is different, but my surgeon put a vivelle dot patch on me in the recovery room, and I have been lucky, and haven't needed to adjust it at all yet. We may have hit it just right on the first try, and I feel great. It is still early for me, and I know there will be adjustments in the future, but I feel as good as I did before. Hope that helps.
