can't sleep and dizzy a lot

Is there a place on here with a list of menopause symptoms? If so, sorry. I did try to find it.

I'm confused because I'm not having the few symptoms that I normally thought of as menopause prior to my surgery. I had read about hot flashes, insomnia, and vaginal dryness. Of the 3 I'm only having problems with insomnia. My doctor said at the 2 week appt that we would wait to treat it as it might get better when I got back to a normal routine. I go back to work next week so I'm hoping it will get better. How do they usually treat insomnia?

Also, is it normal to be so dizzy? I have been debating whether to call the doctor or not. Some days seem better. Some days are down right scary. Is that a symptom of menopause? Anytime I get up or bend over I get extremely dizzy to the point of grabbing hold of something to stay upright.

Any advice?

Re: can't sleep and dizzy a lot

Insomnia is very common after this type of surgery. I took over the counter supplements to help with it. Also, walking and no naps helped a lot, and no caffiene.

Some of the things used are, Benadryll, Valerian Root capsules, Melatonin, . I like Estroven Nightime, very relaxing.

You need to let the doctor know if you are dizzy so he can see what is causing it.

If you are extremely hot and sweating you might be dizzy sometimes, but it is not a symptom I had, and not that common.

suzyQ23, can you use Estroven nighttime if you are an estrogen patch? I'm desperate for sleep, I think my vivelle dose might actually be too high and causing me insomnia.

Re: can't sleep and dizzy a lot

I opted not to do HRT and have been using Estroven PM plus adding extra calcium and vit d to my daily multi-vitamin.

I have not had any dizziness.

You should call the doctor about the dizziness.
