Re: Confused about hormones - help!
First balance your estrogen. Then consider adding in the progesterone as it does help with balance. There is a good article on this website about progesterone - if you look under resources I think you will find it.
Many old school drs do not believe we need progesterone once the uterus is gone. More recently, it has been noted that we do better with it.

Re: Confused about hormones - help!
 con,
I would suggest that you read the articles at www.hormonejungle.com There is alot of info there about the various hormones that one may or may not need. Not everyone needs progesterone after surgical menopause, but some do. This early in recovery, unless you had endometriosis, I would not worry too much about the other hormones. It is way early to know what your exact needs are going to be.
in there. Slow and easy wins the race when it comes to hormone balance.

I agree with Kim! Sometimes it takes quite a bit of time to find out what fits us. I tried several different estrogen deliveries before I found what worked for me. I was one of those women who needed progesterone due to endo. If your gyn won't let you try it , you could always get an over the counter progesterone, if you really want to try it later on after your estrogen is doing well. Good luck!

Re: Confused about hormones - help!
I have had to use progesterone due to endo. Getting it balanced is a really tricky thing. I think everyone is different and I can tell you that doctors have very mixed opinions about it. One of the local gyn practices near me adamantly refuses to give ANY hormones at all. So I travel over one hour to another doc who gives it. It took me time to get it where it works and I've had changes over the last several months.
