Its done and over! Thank you for sharing and caring!!!

Thank you! All of the wonderful women on this board helped me get through this difficult time. You gave me courage and a sense of peace. I found this board only 5 days before I had my hyst. I wish I would have had more time to read and ask questions. I will tell everyone I know about this site. It is worth more than hours of therapy could ever do.

I had a vaginal hysterectomy on Tuesday. I went into the hospital and within an hour I was in the OR. The nurses and the anesthesiologist were so funny and kind. I was so scared and they tried to lighten things up for me. The last thing I remember before I went under was a nurse joking about my fashionable apparel. I went under giggling.

Recovery was hell. I woke up with the worst pain. The nurse was very nice and hurried to make me comfortable with morphine. She wiped my tears away from my face as I cried. She stroked my head and told me that it would the pain would go away soon. It did and I am glad the nurse was so comforting.

We met my DH in the hall as I got wheeled to my room. When the doctor visited he said it was a textbook surgery and everything was good to go. My husband stayed with me until he had to pick the kids up from school and then he came back until almost mid-night. I did not do well on morphine because it made me itch all over. Then we went to Demerol and that did no better. When I stood up, I got sick as well. The doctor switched me over to a pain pill. I don't have the name off hand, but the pain was somewhat better my evening and the pill took care of it.

Yesterday was much better. The pain was there, but it was like really bad cramps. That is something I can handle. By then the bleeding had almost stopped. I moved up to sold food too. Noodles never tasted so good. I walked a little and read a lot. Last night I slept like a baby. The nurses and doctor were so kind at the hospital. It made it so much easier to be there because of those people.

They let me out this morning. I am so happy to be home. My DH and I went shopping this morning so I could get my walk in for the day, since it is so cold outside. Otherwise, I am taking it easy. I can't wait to go back to work. The doctor says 2 weeks. I am questioning if I will be sane at the end of that time. We will see.

Thank you again. I am on my way to recovery and I am staying close to this board to lean on as I heal. God bless you all!!!!
