Dr wants me to add Aygestin -

I just went for my yearly Pap as a still have a small portion of a cervix left and she informed me she wants to add Aygestin to my program. Last year I increased my estrogen to .075 on my Vivelle Dot and added 300 mcg of Testosterone to my mix. I also use Vagifem .025 which my pharmacy said is not available at that dose anymore which I haven't investigated yet.

Anyway, she was concerned because a patient on estrogen only in her practice developed endometrial cancer after a hysterectomy and wanted to protect me by adding progestin. I have tried Prometrium and OTC progesterone in the past but I had such a severe case of ringing in the ears both times I had to stop using them so she suggested Aygestin. She wants me to take 10 pills every third month.

Has anyone heard of doing this and since it is only 10 days I am wandering if I should just use an OTC progesterone as it is more natural and just deal with the ringing in the ears. I was under the assumption from the WHI that progestin was not a good thing to take. Just not sure if I am comfortable adding this into the mix. I feel decent except for weight gain and a lot of muscle loss despite eating right and exercising an hour and a half a day. That is why we increased estrogen last time and added compounded Testosterone but so far that hasn't helped those issues. Sorry so long winded but any advice on the subject would be appreciated.

Re: Dr wants me to add Aygestin -

I take the Prometrium for ten days, every third month.
I take it before bed and that helps with all the side effects.
Taking Progestin of some sort is a must if you still have a uterus, but I am not sure about the cervix.
Basically I tolerate the stuff, it is only for ten days. Find the one that works best and follow Drs orders.
Good luck,
