I found you all!

I sit here with tears running down my cheeks. I have felt so alone since the Dr first said the H word a week ago. A random search for support found this warm, supportive and hopeful site..boy am I glad,, and you are all here in the wee hours of the morning when I can't sleep! I want to hug all of you!

As I am bracing myself to make the decision by my next Dr visit on Friday (which will most likely be a go.. once we can sort out insurance issues), I am thinking of ways to help myself emotionally. I am feeling like I want to create some sort of celebration ceremony before my surgery, surrounded by women I love, having fun, crying alittle..I am not quite sure. Are there any of you out there who have had a ritual, ceremony or celebration to have closure? I want lots of crazy and serious suggestions.. so far I have: a uterus shaped cake, pictures of the children who grew in my uterus, some more serious suggestions such as Native American healing chants, a blessing circle of women I love,,,any more?

I found you all!

hmmmm sounds like a good idea... someone on here was having a "she's not having a baby shower" That would be depressing though for some! I have made a list of all the things I want to do after the surgery that I can't do now..... I have lots to look forward to! As far as a ritual goes........ hmmmmm maybe a big bonfire of MAXI PADS

Welcome to the site! It was a life saver for me... I honestly couldn't have made it through this without it and the comforting people here.....

p.s. the book is great too!

I found you all!

Hey Sheila its a "She's never having a Baby" Shower!!!! And its mine, its all mine!!!!!!

Of course, I'm also the girl who wants to keep her uterus afterwards and turn it into a dart board to work out aggression issues.

Oh yeah, and I'm the one that's writing a message to her doctor on her belly (in washable marker) that says "Are you sure I'm fully sedated?"

I'm also pondering Martha Stewert-izing my left over tampons into Xmas decorations... dying them red and green and adding angel wings....

Oh, and for my party we have to have a "Pin the cyst on the ovary" game.

Why all this insanity? Simple... to stay sane. This operation isn't about becoming less of a woman... how many times have you heard a man whistle at you as you walk down the street and shout "**** BABY! That's a SEXY UTERUS you got! Shake that thang girl!" This operation is about becoming more of a person, about letting go of the pain that's trapped me for so long. If anything, its about becoming a woman again.

Oh, and to the girl who's having a uterus cake... I suggest using a white cake mix, and adding in red food coloring... want to make the insides look authentic, right?

/cackles maniacally and runs off.

GREAT IDEAS MAESYN! And a wonderful, positive attitude. You will be so happy when this is beind you. You are right, you will feel much more like a woman after the surgery. Its so nice to put on pretty new panties and know they will still be pretty when you take them off!! Good Luck to you and keep smiling!

FAERIE!!! oh my gosh I almost wet my pants laughing!!!! You know I never thought about that comment you made about guys whistling at your uterus!!!!!! You brought up a great point!!!!! You just made me realize I can stop worrying about this and start looking at the positive side... (and humorous!)

Just relax and it will be over before you know it

Don't stress over the before and I think having a party may just add attention to your stress. I had my surgery Monday and today is Friday.....feels like forever ago and I wonder what I was worried about. So take it easy and get it over with as soon as possible - it is so much easier and less painful than I ever imagined. Got for it girl ....
