Just my little personal tip..........

I have started carrying around a little basket with me. In it I keep the cordless phone, some tisues, the remote control for the tv, my medicines, gum and a pen and notepad.
This way whatever room I am in or chair I am in, I have everything I need with me.
Nothing like getting comfortable on the couch and realizing the phone and remote are way back on the other side of the room.
Does anybody else have any little tips that they can share to help make the recovery time easier?

Re: Just my little personal tip..........

Great idea with the basket I had one that I left at my bedside as that is where I tried to stay. I would just add a water bottle to your basket. I was always thirsty and with the meds and all plenty of water is just what the doctor ordered.

I have a basket too. It houses my meds, magazine a/o a book, scissors, the remote, my phone and a few other things. I love it.

Re: Just my little personal tip..........

I am out 5 weeks and am not laying around much anymore but I LOVE the basket idea just for everyday. Might have to make up a cute one I have in storage that has a handle. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for the great idea. I'm going to do this, even though I'm five weeks into recovery also. My family's not as inclined to run for me anymore!

Get one of those back pillows with the arm thingies!! It has been a god-send to sit with.

Re: Just my little personal tip..........

Thus far my favorite accessories are my water "jug" from the hospital and my icepack.

Oh, and the grabber hubby had bought and had waiting. It has bee PRICELESS!!! I think he got to reading HysterMisters or something because he originally poo-poohed the idea. When i thanked him for it and showed him how I'd already used it several times, he blushed! It was so cute! Then he rather sheepishly admitted to having used a coupon to save a couple of bucks on it. I praised him greatly. LOL ;-)

She Quilts,

Whoa there, I have been dreaming of a grabber thingy. I am not that tall and I already have problems getting things down from the top kitchen cabinets and the extra shelf my husband built in the closets. Where did he get a coupon? When I priced them I thought they were a little steep.
Silly how my "wish list", now tops with a grabber.
Well, not so silly if this shorty can grab what she wants without calling out someones name.

Re: Just my little personal tip..........

I would put Luden's cough drops in my "spaces" - you could add them to the basket - so that whenever I felt a cough coming on I could quickly grab the drop before I had to experience the pain of the cough! Now I'm at week 10, so the pain is gone (it still hurts at bit to sneeze, though) - but in those first few weeks it was so helpful!

You could use any hard candy that stops the throat tickle, really.

Freedom,
I'm barely 5'2" and have been using long bbq tongs for years to get stuff off shelves. But the grabber was $17 at Harbor Freight Tools and is PRICELESS.
