Bloated

It has been 4 weeks since my hysterectomy. During the first 2 weeks I lost 17 pounds and all the bloating I had in my lower stomach previous to my surgery was gone. I have noticed over the last couple of weeks my lower stomach has been bloated again and my clothes are fitting tighter. Could this be from the hormones? I am taking Vivelle-Dot 0.1 mg.

Re: Bloated

I have noticed the same thing. When I get up in the morning my stomach doesn't look to bad, but the end of the day it is horrible looking.

Re: Bloated

I am using the vivelle patch also but not sre if that is the problem. After my hysterectomy I noticed that I no longer had that bulge where my uterus was but over the last few weeks I have started having the "swelly belly". I notice that my "swelly belly" starts right below my belly button and extends all the way down to my vaginal opening. From what everyone says the "swelly belly" can last up to a year.
I am llike LovetheOcean, I find it worse at the end of the day.

Re: Bloated

I had never heard of the "swelly belly", but that makes me feel a little better. I had really bad bloating before my hysterectomy and at times it looked like I was very pregnant. I was so excited after my surgery when it was gone for a while. I just really hopes it goes away again. I watch what I eat and stay active so I don't think it is my diet.

Re: Bloated

I ordered the swelly belly binder before I had my surgery this week and it really helps.

Re: Bloated

I spent some time on an early "swelly belly" post.

Seems like this is just part of the whole deal. Many of us started out with it from the hospital, others a couple weeks in. Some seem to get over it in weeks (four or six) there were also post where women were six MONTHS or more!! Most agree that the more activity or too long at an activity the bigger the belly. "Swellllllly Bellllllllly" is my DH new nickname for me!

I'd asked my GYN if stopping the motrin caused it? NOPE. Will taking OTC NSAIDS reduce swelly belly? NOPE

My new mantra is "It's gonna be, what it's gonna be!"

Re: Bloated

Sounds like the swell belly. I had it for 5 months. It was worse on days where I did more & then was just gone. It is just your body healing.
