LSH Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy

I am 44 years old very active , I scuba Dive , Ride my own Motorcycle and enjoy lots of outside (physical) activities.
So for the last year and a half I have had really bad back pain and heavier than normal monthly cycles that included weird blood clots,,, that had never happened before, Every month it would get worse and worse.
My husband though I was blowing out my kidneys from the diet pills I take .... so I went to the DR and he informed me that it was not my kidneys and he would need to examine me ... So he did and sent me to get a Pelvic ultrasound that same day .... with a script for antibiotics since i was leaving for vacation in 3 days ... I went on vacation and recieved a message from him to see my GYN asap when I get back.
My doctor informed me I had large fibroids on my uterus and wanted to know if id ever considered a hysterectomy?
Well I hadn't till then but wasnt apposed to the thought .... So she asked about my cervix and If i wanted to keep it ...first thought was no why would I.. if it could lead to cancer at some point . So I told her we would take it all but my ovaries .
Thats where HysterSysters comes in...... Not having a clue I started researching the procedure and this website was the most informative with real life stories from women just like me , And I saw you dont have to take the cervix that its something they (Doctor's) almost always recommend but its not nescessary. So I opted to keep my cervix , It made my surgerey a little different than expected , Instead of pulling the uterus through (vaginally) they sliced it in small strips and removed through a inscision on my side . That incision is the only one that is causing any pain ...Understandably so , But it is not so bad and the meds they gave me are controlling it really well .
I'm now 5 days post surgery and I feel great , Ive been up light cleaning , moving around as much as possible trying not to get stoved up .
I have a trip to Arkansas planned , Were going to trailor our bikes from Houston to Arkansas and then ride when we get to our destination that trip is planned for the end of September , I was originally going to get my surgery in sept but thought no way would I be ok to ride 2 weeks post op. I guess we will see how it works out 5-6 weeks post op I ride my own bike and hope that my story will help others who ride in the future.
