Questions About Progesterone Cream

I had a tah in 12/2003, and I had a bso 7 weeks ago.

The main (bothersome) side effects I've had since my bso surgery are hot flashes and insomnia. I started having hot flashes just hours after my bso surgery.

Does progesterone cream help with hot flashes and insomnia?

Does anyone take the progesterone cream that's in the Hyster Sister store?

Is it necessary to take an hrt with progesterone cream? I've read on here that progesterone cream can't do anything for a lady without ovaries, and I've also read on here that it helps some ladies without ovaries.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Progesterone cream alone will probably not help with hot flashes. I do use progesterone, but I use it in conjuction with my estrogen. You can read more about progesterone in the articles at www.hormonejungle.com

As I said above, it is extremely unlikely, by itself to help with hot flashes. Doubtful that you will find someone who is only using progesterone, in surgical menopause, and has found that it eased their hot flashes. Estradiol is the hormone that helps with hot flashes.

When I first had my TAH/BSO I was put on progesterone without estrogen. It did help some with the hot flashes and insomnia. It did not help with the body aches, brain fog, weight gain, moods, etc. I do not recommend that route. I only did it to help with the endo before I went on estrogen.
