7 wks. today and still spotting.. is this normal?

Hi ladies... It was exactly 7 wks. ago I had my da Vinci hysterectomy. I was spotting off and on the whole time. I saw my dr. last week and told him about the spotting/staining. (similar, but lighter than a finishing period)
Anyway, he saw the slightest discharge from a healing granulation scar. He did a silver nitrate application and said everything would be fine in a week. It's almost a week and the medicine residue stopped leaking, but I'm still spotting. Is this right? Is this something that we just have to live with? I really don't want to have to go back to my dr. again. He's going to think I have a crush on him or something. lol
I haven't had relations w/ my DH because I'm concerned that somewhere there is still an open wound... Is this the new "normal"? thx in advance...

Re: 7 wks. today and still spotting.. is this normal?

hello, Croochi face

i am at 7 weeks as well. I have stopped my spotting only a week ago. My dr said it is Ok to spot for about 8 weeks.
Did you keep your cervix?

if yes, you may also have a mini periods as bad as it sounds.
i have kept mine, and today i feel like i am cramping and may even start a"period."

Get well!
I hope you will stop spotting soon.

Re: 7 wks. today and still spotting.. is this normal?

I understand I had total davinci spotted for 8 weeks 6 days cuff was fine wasn't overdoing it. Was hard and frustrating I felt like I was doing something wrong, sometimes still do. My dr said you will spot until your healed. 8 weeks 6 days for me. Made me think of her when the spotting stopped. I had to smile.

I also had my DaVinci on July 14 and have had problems with granulation of tissue. My doctor treated it with silver nitrate on Aug 27 and I have another apptmt on Sept 13. She told me if it didn't stop the bleeding, she would do it again on the 13th. It stopped for a while and then started again. I thought I was through buying mini-pads!

Re: 7 wks. today and still spotting.. is this normal?

i hear ya sista! i,m going through pantiliners like crazy.....My silver nitrate was on the 27th too. It,s like we are living parallel lives.... My doc didn,t suggest a follow up, so I,ll give it a couple of more days. According to some other sisters, it,s not unusual for this to tAke 8 wks.... arrgh. My dh is verrrrrry patient, because I do,nt want to do anything until this stops. I really don,t want to go back to the surgeon again. I seriously think he thinks I like him. you know "like" him....

Re: 7 wks. today and still spotting.. is this normal?

Hi. I had the same problem. Your post reads almost identically to mine back in July. I continued to spot for about a week after the silver nitrate application, and then it stopped never to start again. i was so relieved, and it's been wonderful not having spotting after 7 mos of it (pre-op). So, hang in there a few more days, and if it doesn't stop, you can have as many silver nitrate apps as necessary.

Re: 7 wks. today and still spotting.. is this normal?

i too had da vinci and spotted almost the entire time. at 8 weeks i stopped and am now doing great. i was concerned also, but my doctor told me not to worry--some people heal slower than others. i'm now 3 months post op, uterus and cervix gone and sex is great. a few bumps in the road during week 8 and 9, but my dh and i are very happy. he says it feels as good as before.
