Re: Removing 2nd Ovary Worried Because Can't Tolerate Estrogen

I am your age and I had both my ovaries removed and didn't start hormone therapy either. I did have lots of people praying for me! I drank lots of chilled water to help with the hot flushes. It took about three months altogether for the hot flushes and the brain fog to settle down.. Thank you God for prayers answered. Life is better than it has been in a very long time.

Re: Removing 2nd Ovary Worried Because Can't Tolerate Estrogen

I made it 10 weeks with no HRT. I can handle the hot flashes but the not sleeping and brain fog were horrible. I asked for and was given Vivelle Dot. It took a pretty long time before I felt better. I gradually increased my dose and I know use .1 Climara and I trim a little off. I literally could not sleep before starting the patch. I too had the adrenaline surges. I'd never heard of that one before. I can tell you from experience it takes time. I've learned here an on other sites that it's really important to go slow. If it were me I'd go back to the starting dose and do that for 4 weeks and then think about increasing it if things aren't better. Most women get their estrogen dose figured out first and then add in the progesterone and maybe testosterone. I really do know what you are going through. It really was awful in the beginning and it didn't get a whole better for a while, but I can tell you know I feel like my old self. Hang in there and don't give up!

Re: Removing 2nd Ovary Worried Because Can't Tolerate Estrogen

I only take the Vivelle Dot and I can't even imagine adding those other hormones to the mix. Also, I believe that there is a lot of fear in your mind as well since you have been through soooooooooo much. That might be having a negative effect on you. I will be praying that you find the right stuff for you. I think we ALL have had to adjust to the NO SLEEP thing. However, if you get the estrogen and such right, even with not much sleep, you will feel better than you have in a long time. (Try taking Melatonin instead of just a sleeping pill) I hope it works out for you dear. : ( I hate it that you are having to go through all of this confusion and mess.
