27 hormone replacement ,surgical menopause risks?!?
I am 27 and have to decide whether or not to have my ovaries out or not. Can someone please tell me the risks of going through surgical menopause and hormone replacement so young?

Re: 27 hormone replacement ,surgical menopause risks?!?
Hi
This would best be discussed with your Dr. We don't all carry the same risk factors, and we don't know what your risks are if you don't have your ovaries removed.
However, I can link you to some information that may help you formulate some good questions for your or for the all important second opinion.
Keep Ovaries During Hysterectomy? Keep One or Both
Keep Ovaries? Planning a hysterectomy
Personally, if my ovaries were healthy I would opt to keep them. This is because there is not an HRT available that can dublicate all that your ovaries do for you. They are able to give you the precise amount of hormones that you need just exactly when you need them. Women who have healthy ovaries removed tend to have a more difficult time adjusting to HRT as opposed to women who's ovaries are not working right. At least that has been my observation here on these forums.
If you have your ovaries removed, there is not anyway you can decide to go back and put them back in. It is a done deal. On the other hand, if you decide in the future to have them removed, it can be done.
I wish you the best.

Kay
