New here..Sched for Oct.18th
Hello all, I am new here! I have found the website very informative. Curious to know if anyone has had similar experience. I had ablation in 07 for bleeding 2 out of 4 weeks a month. It worked..at first I was a believer, but now wondering?? About a year afterward, I had began experiencing severe lower adominal pain intermittently, it became more frequent over two years to the point I could take no more, went to gyn had ultraounds, bloodwork, and finally lap last mos. Had complex cysts removed from both ovaries, also endo removed. This did nothing for my pain, just as bad as ever.I do have a fibroid that seems to be growning larger by the week. I experience sharp aching pain in both ovaries, along with severe pain in pelvic area, and pain that goes down front of my right hip and leg. Im miserable! Both my gyn and family dr feel hysterectomy is my best choice. Im comfortable with the decision, the plan is to remove uterus and right ovary, and leave left ovary and cervix. Any input would be welcome???

Wow, what suffering you've had. Bet you can't wait to get rid of all the problems. Eat well and get plenty of sleep - both before and after the surgery. The plan sounds good since you won't be thrushed into menopause. I took my cervix out mainly because I'd had problems (severe pain) getting paps because of atrophy caused by chemopause.
I've been feeling wonderful ever since my prophylactic hysterectomy/oophorectomy. Bet you will feel the same way I do after your procedure takes care all the problems.

Re: New here..Sched for Oct.18th
I have had similiar problems. I had a tubal in 97 an ablation in 2001. I didn't have a "period" for a couple of years then they started to come back. First it wasn't blood just clear discharge but every 21 days. It eventually progressed to a period. Then the pain returned. Fast forward to 2010 & I have been doubled over in pain even ending up in ER. I decided on the hyster and go in tomorrow. The only thing I'm unsure or nervous about is having them take my left ovary. That's where the crippling pain seems to be. I know about the fibroids and the endo but what if I leave the ovary and still have this pain? Sorry about the long post but ur case seems the most like mine. I hope all goes well with your surgery.

Yes our cituation seems the same! Im also concerned if I leave an ovary that I will still have pain! What type of hysterectomy are you having? I will find out on Wed. Do you think your ablation had something to do with your longterm issues? Best wishes to you tomorrow!!

Re: New here..Sched for Oct.18th
I'm having a LSH...and yes I think the ablation has something to do with it. My DR. said sometimes they just don't work and the lining grows back. I did read about a syndrome called post ablation-tubal ligation and has all the symptoms I have. The blood backs up into the tubes. My Dr kind of discounted that. I will hopefully have more info after the surgery.

Re: New here..Sched for Oct.18th
I had ablation in 2008 as well as several cysts removed off both ovaries. My period stopped but the pain was back after a few months. Went back to gyn and ultrasound showed the cysts where back and my fibroid had grown.
When my surgery was done she informed my husband that my fallopians tubes were also loaded with cysts.
I'm 6-month post now and feel so so much better than I did before my surgery.
I'm not doing HRT. I opted to handle the surgical menopause on my own. I take extra calcuim and vit d plus Estroven PM. The Estroven PM helps with the night sweats and sleep issues. I think the fact that I already take Lexapro for depression/anxiety handled the mood swings associated with menopause.

Re: New here..Sched for Oct.18th
I'm scheduled for a Da Vinci partial hyster in about 4 weeks. I suffer from extremely heavy periods, fibroids, and horrible back pain and cramps every month.
About 2 years ago, my previous gyn attempted the Novasure ablation on me. I was gung-** about it, but it went bad. The doctor ended up poking a hole in my uterus because I have a small, tilted uterus and he was unable to open the required instrument. So now, I'm schedule for a Da Vinci hyster. I'm so ready. I have one period left. I'm actually excited.
My advice to you is use this site loosely. You'll hear everything from horror stories to great, positive results. You know better than anyone else how you will handle things, so just be honest with yourself and do your research. Good luck!

Re: New here..Sched for Oct.18th
Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! I guess i am just trying to pinpoint exactly what the h*** is going on in there! I am convinced it has something to do with the ablation, it helps to know others have had similar experience with it. Im frustrated that I just had laparoscopy last month, and now another surgery already!!
