sagging tummy :((

Hi ladies - I'm 12 days post op, TAH/BSO, and my stomach is just kind of drooping over my incision with a mind of it's own. Not a pretty sight! How long, if ever, does it take for one's stomach to get back to normal? If this keeps up I may have to buy the dreaded old lady bathing suit with a skirt! Yikes!! Let me know your stories. Thanks girls, Peggy

My tummy did that, too. I asked my doctor about it at my 6 week check up and she said that is normal. Our stomach muscles have been through a lot and it will take about 6 months for it to repair. She said stomach exercises would help. I have gained some weight since my surgery, so mine is still there, but it is better. I have not done any exercises.

Good luck and it will get better.

I got the same story...that the muscles might take about 6 months and I was cleared yesterday to do sit-ups and crunches. She also told me to do "Tummy Kegels" where you hold your tummy muscles in as tightly as you can for as long as you can, before letting them out. this, she said, should help train the muscles.

Love,
Maggie

What a relief!!

Here I thought I was the only "deformed" one!! My surgery was the 21st of Sept. and my stomach is hanging out there!! And I'm not overweight! It's good to hear that we may be "normal" again one day, but aren't the benefits wonderful??

Have a great day!

Mine took about a year, probably because I'm 53 and didn't excersize, but now I do yoga and it helps, its quite unfair, it seems like the tummy should " sink in" after the surgury, but no such luck.

Me too!

Mine is lopped over too! I am overweight but never had this happen before!
I feel much better knowing I am not alone! I will try to do ab exercises as soon
as I can. I tried to hold it in for a minute and I could but I sure wouldn't want
to do too many of them! Ouchie! Thanks for sharing!
