Will vaginal cuff repair itself?

I had a complete Davinci hysterectomy and was cleared for all activities, including sex, by Week 5. We waited until Week 9, and I injured myself with my enthusiasm. I had a great deal of pain afterwards. I didn't bleed, but a clear fluid ran down my legs when I got up at night, maybe 2 cups, with just a light pink tinge. That was 4 days ago, and I'm still very sore and have the same discharge, only very lightly. Did I damage the vaginal cuff and can it heal itself? I'm very discouraged now, especially because I finally felt totally whole at 9 weeks. Any help, please?

Re: Will vaginal cuff repair itself?

I'm sorry that you had that happen--how scary! Have you called your doctor yet? If not, you need to do so as soon as possible. Your doctor will be the one to decide if the cuff can heal without intervention or if you need repair work. You could be risking infection by not having this checked out so please don't wait to call. Let us know when you can what the doctor says, okay?

Re: Will vaginal cuff repair itself?

I would call the doctor & have him/her check your cuff. you do not want to risk infection if there is a part that is not healed. If all is well just go a bit slower next time.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I've put myself on bed rest and started Cipro. If internal pain hasn't subsided through the weekend, I'm afraid I will be back in the doctor's office.

Re: Will vaginal cuff repair itself?

I saw the doctor today, 9 days after the tearing incident. It started to heal itself but was still raw. I had put myself on bedrest 5 days ago and was taking Cipro on my own.
I'm sure that prevented infection. The wonderful doctor treated me with silver nitrate solution, prescribed estra cream for 3 weeks, and will see me again in 4 weeks. I'll need a bit of healing time, but by no means am I back to Square 1. Pain from tear is gone. I'm just a little crampy tonight. All is good. Thank you for your concern and support.
