Bladder Spasms interrupting sleep 5 months after bladder sling

65 years old, had LAVH, bladder sling and rectal repairs the end of April. No longer have incontinence but have pain that has been attributed to bladder spasms by the doctor's office. The problem is worse at night and is interrupting sleep. I have had 5 of 6 weeks physical therapy and therapist said where I am is probably the way I will be in the future. Has
anyone else been able to function during the day but then have worse pain at night?

Re: Bladder Spasms interrupting sleep 5 months after bladder sling

janma--

I'm sorry this is occurring for you. Has anyone suggested a workup to see if you have I.C. or anything like that? Did they suggest your diet might play a factor in these spasms? Do you have certain foods or drinks you eat late in the day that might be affecting you and thereby helping to cause your spasms at night?

If not, I wonder if the sling itself might still be the main cause? What has your doctor said about it? Was the therapist a PPT (pelvic physical therapist)?

For me personally, I know certain things can contribute to pain at night. I can ignore a nagging pain during the day when I have other distractions going on but at night, I can't. I also know that if I've had anything caffeinated or foods with certain ingredients, I can feel more irritated than if I don't.

This is probably something you'd want to discuss with your doctor if s/he is a UroGYN or URO who knows about bladder irritants.

I hope you can find some help, info, and relief.
