Headaches on HRT

I have just had on 7th september 10 a TVH and ovaries removed, before this i suffered with menstrual migraine and could never take the pill as it always gave me migraine. I have been given Evorel 50 patches and for the first two weeks felt fine but then started a bad headache and slight nausea (not as bad as a migraine) that just wont go away so I expect it is the Evorel. I am wondering if lowering the dose will help or if not what would happen if I dont take HRT at all. ? My consultant said I had to take it because of Osteoporosis and also I would be in effect having a mechanical menopause?.

Re: Headaches on HRT

My experience has been that I get headaches if my estrogen level is low. I don't know if you're the same but if it were me, I'd ask the doctor about increasing the dose rather than decreasing it.

It's normal to have symptoms early in recovery as your body depletes the hormones your ovaries made and as you adapt to your new hormone therapy. If you continue to feel poorly, definitely let your doctor know.

Best wishes as your recovery continues!
