Reading is fundamental =P

Note to other Pre-ops:
From the Dept of Doctoral Stupidity:
Re: Check your prescriptions

Be like Alice and figure out what they want you to take before you shoot down the rabbit hole.... Today, after a good hour of vomitting because of my RX'd pre-op anti-biotics, I read the label.... "TAKE WITH FOOD".

Now, since I'm pre-op today, with my surgery tomorrow.... my doctor told me I was only allowed a clear liquid diet all day. So once I read the aforementioned "TAKE WITH FOOD" notation, I was quite curious as to why in the heck this had been rx'd to me.

So I called my doctor, who replied with a Homer Simpson like "D'oh!" and told me to lose the anti-biotics. I obliged her happily by flushing them down the toilet (Seemed a proper ending to the lil bastages...)

Point: If I had taken the time to read that darn label I would have never gotten sick. I broke my number one rule tonight by trusting my doctor (who is a wonderful woman with only this mark against her) blindly. I know enough about meds and my body that if it says "TAKE WITH FOOD" in big bright letters, I know I *have* to take it with food, or I'm going to end up paying homage to the porcellian god.

Just the ramblings of a LIW in her last pre-op hours... Hope this helps someone.
