sublingual estradiol
HI,
I just had a question for anyone doing their estradiol sublingually. I have been doing that for awhile but I notice that it doesn't completely dissolve and there is a residue left in there. I am worrying whether it is absorbing like it is supposed to if it is not dissolving and then I just end up swallowing the residue that is left. Does anyone have any idea about this?

Re: sublingual estradiol
 Hi,
It does take a while for my troche to completely dissolve, especially that last little bit. It does dissolve though.
I think you should ask your pharmacist why it may not be dissolving, and if you should be swallowing it, or just throwing it out. He/she would know exactly what is in the troche and if something should be changed to meet your needs better.
Let us know what your pharmacist says.

Re: sublingual estradiol
Actually, it is not a troche. It is the estradiol pill that is normally taken orally that I read on here that you can also do sublingually. That is why I am wondering because it is not meant to be done sublingually but supposedly alot of people are doing it that way. I just am wondering if it is being absorbed. Thanks,
Maureen

I would call your doctor and ask him/her. Your doctor would be the best one to advise you on this if he/she has instructed you to use your Estradiol this way.

Re: sublingual estradiol
I believe the pills used for swallowing are different than those used to dissolve. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using the medication differently than prescribed.

Re: sublingual estradiol
I actually didn't talk to my doctor about this. I was strictly going by things I read on here and another website. I know that may not be too smart. Right now I am just taking it orally and may look for another option with my doctor for something that goes through the skin instead. l am looking for a way that is easier on the liver than taking the estrogen orally.
