Feet & Legs hurting

Had it all removed on Dec 9, 09. I've noticed over the past 2 mos. that when I wake up or sit for long periods that I feel like a 90 yr old woman. I can't take hormones due to a stroke I had 7 yrs ago. I'm on multi vi's, Estrotone (contains no estrogen), primrose, vit D, Calcium and an asprin everyday. I have my own dance studio and it's so hard for me to even move anymore. I use to have tons of energy and now I can't sleep due to the night sweats. Is there any signs of hope out that this will pass? I'm only 49 and up until this point in my life I've never really felt my age. Now I feel beyond my age... Thanks for listening/reading Lol.

Re: Feet & Legs hurting

I had my hyst in '03 and I can say it does get better over time. I started out with moderate dose of HRT, went to lower dose over the years and now off. Everyone is different so it can take time.

Exercise, diet cutting out caffiene, sugar, spicey foods, and alcohol help keep the heat down a lot. Drink a lot of cold water, use a fan on your bed, cover with a sheet and keep the house cool. Stress and worry seem to bring on heat and sweats for a lot of us.

Hang in there

Re: Feet & Legs hurting

I started taking the daily multi-vitamin for 50+ I just take the walmart brand. I don't know what vit. Init helps but within a week I didn't have the pain in my joints I had developed since having my last ovary removed. Good luck. I know how bad it use to feel to get out of bed and try to walk out the soreness.

Re: Feet & Legs hurting

I am 35 and I'm in surgical menopause. Thought I was going to claw thru the walls with all the symptoms. Mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, face flushes, etc..... Worked with my gyne. He put me on Vivelle. Wasn't working and not comfortable with the whole HRT thing. So went to my pcp. She put me on Effexor. Lowest dose at first and now bumped up my dosage a bit more. It has eleveated my hotflashes/nightsweats and my mood is soooo much better. I have also been advised to start taking the following: Vitamin D/Fish Oil/Glucosamine. Because of the meno I have to start taking care of my body on my own and not letting it take care of it self anymore. The vitamin D will help with bone health/fish oil will help with lousy cholesterol (ldl) and the glucosamine will help with bone and joint pain associated with arthritis and back problems I have. My dad used glucosamine for several years and noticed a difference in his joints. It is worth speaking to your dr about and maybe giving it a go.
