surgery on the 15th

I am scheduled for a lavh on oct 15th. I can not wait to feel better. My pre-op visit is the 13th. I am curious on how long that surgery took and what I should expect afterwards. I have had very heavy and painful periods since I started my periods at 11 years old. I was told by my gyn I have a prolapse uterus and have had abdominal and lower back pain since july. So far I am keeping my ovaries unless she sees anything that will change that when she sees through the scope. I have been blessed with to beautiful kids 10 and 8. My grandmother had the same problem and had a total hysterectomy. What is so crazy about that is that she was 33 when she got hers done and so am I. If anyone can give me any ideas on what I should expect or prepare for and any hits on recovery I would gladly appreciate it

Re: surgery on the 15th

I also am having mine on the 15th. I can only tell you that the pre op was not a big deal really. When I went to mine, they told my the surgery would take almost 4 hours and then in recovery for a couple hours. They also told me that for part of the surgery you will be upside down. I asked a lot of questions at my pre op and they explained what would happen and what to expect.
I wish I had more to help you out!
