HRT after uterine cancer

Hi,
I'm a new member. I had a complete hysterectomy May 1st, including the removal of lymph nodes. I did not need more treatment. The cancer had not penetrated the uterine wall. Has anyone used estrogen creams after having a surgery such as mine? I am extremely dry and miserable in the vaginal area. None of the creams suggested by my oncologist have helped at all !

Please provide some advice. I've been to two doctors and have received conflicting advice. :Thanks!!!

Re: HRT after uterine cancer

Thierry -

My gyn-onc would have preferred that I not use vaginal estrogen for a couple of years but for a couple of different reasons it just wasn't possible. My uro-gyn recommended Estrace and use 1/2 a gram 1 to 2x a week as necessary.

Personal quality of life issuse outweighed the risk so far things have been good.

Re: HRT after uterine cancer

I am a repeat case of Taurus lady... however after 6 months of usage, my gyn/onc took me off. I am approaching check up time again, and I am going to ask for another low dose prescription of Premarin. There has to be some balance between good health and being miserable.
It is almost like I can feel the walls drying up and cracking.

Re: HRT after uterine cancer

My GYN onc said HRT is OK after such early stage endometrial ca. So I started it. I think there is not medical concensus on the issue so its like many other things---depends on situation. And really its made a huge difference for me.

HRT after uterine cancer

thanks again. It's tough to sort out everything, as you know.

absolutely my feeling too. I started taking chinese herbs prescribed by a chinese doctor. I feel better mentally and slighly very slighly less dry.

No, I too felt as though I had dodged a bullet. In fact to this day I can't believe that I survived the sheer terror of the ordeal! That's why I'm so reluctent to use estrogen cream. Ugh
