post-op appointments - what to expect and when?

I'm looking for information now (I am a worrier by nature) about what sort of post-surgery appointments I will be expected to keep.

When? What procedures? internal exams, how often?

I realize it probably varies by surgeon and insurance plan, but I really cope better if I have an idea - and my pre-surg consultation isn't until Nov 2 (Davinci surgery on Nov 12).

Thanks.

Re: post-op appointments - what to expect and when?

I had a TAH. My GYN had my 2 week post op scheduled at my last pre op appt. She just did an external check, the staples had been removed 3 days after the surgery. Then my last appt was at 6 weeks after the TAH. She did an internal to check how healing was. Didn't hurt at all.

Re: post-op appointments - what to expect and when?

I had a quick appointment about a week after surgery, where Dr looked at incision & snipped the ends off the suture, then will have another one at 6 weeks. He will look inside to make sure everything is healing, & most likely release me.

Re: post-op appointments - what to expect and when?

I had one at 17 days post op,,,with internal,,,did not hurt.
I had another one four weeks later at 7 weeks post op...with internal,,,did not hurt.

Although suctures were still not as dissolved as she would have liked, I am still on a no intercourse for 2 more weeks, only cardio/areobic exercise for one month, weight lift of 5-8 lbs for one more month, and then resume all "normal" activity slowly and have body be my guide. I will not have to return to her until May for my yearly internal and smear. Good luck
