Evamist
I had my robotic assisted vaginal hyster 7 wks ago. I didnt have any symptoms post op until about 5 wks and on came the horrible hot flashes. Last week I went to GNC and bought Estronal (over counter ) and it seemed to slow them down... I was having a hot flash every 30 minutes , sleeping only 4 hours total a night, and after taking the pill it makes them about every hour and sleeping 6 hours a night... so I started Evamist 4 days ago. I have started out at 1 spray a day... so here is my question, Is it supposed to work from day 1? Because I am still having hot flashes about every hour... and sometimes they are so intense i feel faint and/or sick at my stomach... I am also having trouble feeling "foggy" mentally.. cant do much consentrating. any advice yall? I will go up to 2 sprays a day but I dont know how long I should give 1 spary before goint to 2..

Re: Evamist
Hello!
It takes a while for any hormone therapy to reach optimal levels. Generally it's best to stick with the same dose for several weeks before making any changes, especially in the early weeks of recovery as your body depletes the hormones your ovaries made and then adapts to the new estrogen.
You might want to keep a journal of your symptoms as you work to find your hormone balance. It can help you (and your doctor) determine what, if any, changes need to be made. Are you still using the over-the-counter product? I think it would be easier to find your balance using just the Evamist.
I hope you find that you feel better as you get further into recovery and as your estrogen level increases with the use of the Evamist.

Re: Evamist
Hi
Brain fog and nausea are two of the most common symptoms early in recovery. It may be due to hormones, but it can also be caused by the anesthesia meds that you are given. There is one med in particular, an amnesia drug, that causes you to not remember. This drug can affect memory in some of us for many many months following surgery.
You might want to check in the Post Op forum to see how others with these symptoms are treating them. I know that peppermint or ginger tea helped my nausea tremendously!
As (((April))) stated, it can take several weeks, typically up to 6, for our bodies to feel the full benefits of any dose change or new method of delivery for any hormone. It is important that you not make changes during this time, so your body will be receiving a constant dose.
I wish you the Best!
