VERY scared and uneducated about HRT

Hi. I will be having a full hysterectomy on November 12 because of endomitriosis.

My doctor said I will be needing to take HRT because I am only 30. For the first 6 months, I will be on pregesterone only (to make sure the endomitriosis is gone) then I will start estrogen too.

I have battled with severe mood swings throughout my life and am nervous about how HRT will effect me- especially the lack of estrogen.

I also don't know where to start to learn about HRT. I've looked through the posts here and am now even more scared! I was under the impression that I would just take a pill every day and all would be good. But now I'm seeing that women have to "find the HRT that is right for them"! And there are creams to take instead!

This has all been so hard, and now it seems there is even more I have to go through.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Re: VERY scared and uneducated about HRT

Hello!

There sure is a lot of information and it can be overwhelming to know where to start.

You might find it helpful to browse around in the Hormone Jungle Articles. It's packed with good information.

It can take time to find the right hormone therapy but some women are lucky and find that the first one they try is a good match. Other of us wander around a while going through a trial and error process to find what works best. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones to find a match on the first try but if not, there are plenty of options--pills, patches, creams, etc. We'll be here to help you through it all by sharing information and our experiences.

Best wishes for your surgery and recovery!
