Removing part of cervix

I was told I could keep my cervix at Pre-appt
and the doc called me late today(surgery tomorrow) to say if the uterus comes out, she'll have to take out the top of cervix. Having LAP Surgery tomorrow.
Anyone else hear of this? Does this means she's not experienced?

Re: Removing part of cervix

Since the cervix isn't a separate organ but the lower portion of the uterus, she may mean she's going to take the top out of the cervix to remove as much uterine tissue as possible. If you keep your ovaries and cervix, there is a small chance of having mini periods due to uterine tissue left and some doctors will cauterize the cervix during surgery to help prevent them. If you have questions, give her a call.

Best wishes!
