Lapo for endo, repair inguinal hernia 5 Nov - 10 mnths post LAVH

I honestly I have no clue where to post. I'm hoping that our leaders will direct me. I am 34 yrs old, I was diagnosed in Nov 09 with stage 4 endometriosis. The damage the had been done was extreme and had been there long term. The surgeon was not experienced. She followed with an LAVH- left ovaries. We found out her claim to being a pelvic pain specialist t this top hospital was false (simply a hospitalist) began long search. Finally word got to the director of the hosp endometriosis and pelvic floor clinic. He he has been unreal. I was scheduled for surg 1 Oct however due to my asthma inflamed by a virus delay. He has me working with a pulmonologist/internist, uro/gyn-pelvic reconstruction specialist, general surgeon that only does surgery and repair on very unusual womans hernia, also a kidney specialist due to what is difficult to diistinguish on tests as an 8mm cyst or endo. Either way just watch it and see how it looks a year from now or severe increased. My muscles in my entire pelvic floor are extremley damaged (explained to they are ALL as tensed or almost cramped, bladder, colo-rectal and all support mussles (I take high levels of valium daily acting as a muscle relaxer to prevent retention). I knew the pain was their and never missed the meds utiil one came the point I had regular soft bowel movement however the muscles were so tight that as my body normally added more feces tthe pressure became so unreal - ER dr. compared it to like those Finger hnd cuffs. More pressure you apply tighter it gets to point I without bearing down basically sitting on the toilet spraying fresh blood.
constantly. ER super pain reliever, 2 painless bowel movements. And slept 24 hrs.

Excited for surgury Friday. Inguinal hernia is one of a kind they believe. Doctor must use mesh to repair therefore its area must be endo free for infection reasons. It is a major source of my pain since LAVH (total I have been unable work 13 months) back into the OR need sisters

Endo bowel HELP! Terrified

While speaking with my doctor Tuesday (I had called for advice because my pain was extremely bad and this close to surgery we are being very cautious to avoid difficulty with pain management.) At the very end he mentioned he had reviewed the video from first lapo 12 Nov 09. He would be talking to the surgeon assisting due the herni as well speaking with my gastro. Whom I know has very strong feelings about endo outside the colon. (Inside clean)

Yesterday. They want full cleanse bc they have some concerns and even more so since they've had a good year to grow more, also my pain and symptoms are consistent with much of they are seeing. Could care less about prep etc. Others that r through and have experience please even bad. I handle things so much better with knowledge.

Dr. would have provided however I promised myself a cut and color before surgery and I was fullfilling my promise. I have been sick 13 months. My last was one week before LAVH and bangs, brown blunt aline. This time super blonde below shoulders soft layers. Keeps me entertained I guess. Lol

Please I am scared, any feedback much appreciated

(((Sarah))))

Being one of kind is not always what it is cracked up to be, is it?! You would much rather your doctor say, "Oh, yes, I have seen this a thousand times and can fix you up with no problem!"

I am so sorry you have been dealing with hernia pain since your LAVH and I hope that your surgical team is able to correct this problem for you so you will finally be free of that pain!

As you know, having endometriosis is going to complicate your whole surgery and recovery. Are any of your surgeons planning to meticulously clean up any and all endometriosis that is found, not just what is in the area of the hernia? Any of it that is left behind could continue to cause you some issues down the road so you want as much as possible removed. Keep in mind, the more meticulous the surgeon is when removing the endometriosis, the more pain you might feel with recovery--but it should pay of in the end! Don't hesitate to post any of your endometriosis questions and concerns over in our Endometriosis Support forum!

Also, anyone dealing with chronic pain can have issues with muscles that won't relax. You may find that you need some pelvic floor physical therapy once you have healed from this hernia surgery to get all our pelvic floor muscles to work properly again. Unfortunately, surgery is going to be simply the first step of a longer process to feeling better again!

My goes out to you and I hope that your surgery goes well. Expect your recovery to be a bit of a longer and more painful one because going into surgery you have these muscle issues, endometriosis, likely some adhesions, and the hernia that needs to be repaired. You are going to need to follow your doctor's orders to a "T" and plan to have some help so you don't over do it too soon.

Hi Sassysarah,
I'm sorry you have been in so much pain and having so many problems for the last yr. You asked for advice...last month I had a hernia repair and adhesion removal from the hyst. I do not have endo so I cannot comment on that. I will be thinking of you and sending my best wishes for your surgery on Friday. Go in with positive thinking that you will finally get some relief from this long journey you have been on.
Heidi
P.S. I bet you will look awesome going in for your surgery with your new hair style and color.

Re: Lapo for endo, repair inguinal hernia 5 Nov - 10 mnths post LAVH

I wish you all the best. Good for you in getting cut/color b4 surgery.

I always love hearing my doctor say "I have never seen this before....". I am blessed he is a great surgeon and I can't help how my body responds.

One thing I remember him saying to me in response to a request I had (asked him not to mess with my right side) was "I can't promise that. If there is anything wrong, I am obligated to take care of it".
I was frustrated because I worried any kind of clean-up on the right side would create more problems. It didn't.

Your doctors need to be willing to get all the endo, not just what is in the hernia spot. You are risking more surgery otherwise. For most people a lap is an easy recovery-go home same day and others require a day or two in the hospital.

Just make sure that all you concerns will be addressed. Good Luck.

Re: Lapo for endo, repair inguinal hernia 5 Nov - 10 mnths post LAVH

Thank you all. Yes I am tired of being the only one. No offense but I find getting or finding support impossible which is emotionally difficult. I love this site yet get frustrated because I find as with my physicians no one else has seen what I get to experience. No one else has a pulmonologist clearing everything because of their asthma, a hernia one woman a year in the year gets (the dr is more excited about the research options than me the human). The uro/gyn pelvic floor is my saviour she makes me feel normal or tries her best. After this surgery Friday we will still have to do a pelvic floor reconstruction and bladder sling. Have I mentioned I am 34 yrs old. Last September I was running 5 miles a day 4 days a week in preparation for a 5K with my 13 yr old son to raise money for breast cancer research in honor of my mother and grandmother bother survivors. It was my first attempt as a runner at such an event. Prior it had always just been my time or time with my son. Now I have difficulty walking much I'm 85 yr old woman slow with terrible hip pain I'm told from the endo and or hernia. I just pray its temporary
