Estrogen levels ... what is "good"

I had a RALH/BSO five weeks ago now. I am on .1 mg Vivelle Dot patch. I feel that physically I'm recovering well but feel my estrogen level is still low. At my first post-op visit a little over a week ago, I had blood taken to have my levels checked. I finally got the results today. The nurse said my Estrogen level is "good" but could be higher. I asked what the level was and she said 63, which seems low to me from what I've read (I know everyone is different). I'm still having occasional bouts of anxiety, nausea, night sweats and headaches. But most bothersome is my very low energy level. I have to go back to work next week and hit the ground running, so I have to be feeling at least good enough to get my job done when I go back.

My doctor was going to put me on an oral Estradiol. I expressed my concern with an oral med. She put me on two .1 mg patches until my six-week check up next Tuesday (a week from tomorrow). So hopefully I can get to a better place with the two patches.

In case it helps, I am 45 and had my hyster and BSO due to a destroyed ovary and tube (adhesions and previous infection).

Any thoughts on my situation or on a standard decent estrogen level would be appreciated.

Thanks ladies.

Oh, I forgot to add that she is going to talk to me about a new gel she feels may be good for me. I'll write again and let you know what I find out about it and whether I try it.

Re: Estrogen levels ... what is "good"

The new gel could be something like estrogel. It is very good.

A "good" estrogen level is when you feel like your old self.

Think about having a testosterone level, total and free, and progesterone levels drawn with your estradiol.
Low energy (and libido) can also be from low T levels.
Low thyroid can also cause low energy.

Good luck....

Re: Estrogen levels ... what is "good"

You are still very early post op. It is not unusual to have symptoms as your body recovers from surgery and adjusts to the ert. It is not unusual for your levels to fluctuate during this time. IMHO I would not jump to start tweaking and look for optimal levels just yet. Some of your symptoms are very common during the early weeks/months of recovery.
