Just started Premarin

I'm 2 days post-op and my surgeon put me on .625 of premarin. Haven't had any hot flashes or sweats yet but my memory's been a little off. Will my hormone levels bottom out before they stabilize or will they stabilize where they're at now?

Re: Just started Premarin

It may take several months for your body to make the necessary adjustments to it's new source of hormones, and use up the supply it had stored.

Memory loss is a common symptom after this surgery. It can be caused by hormone issues, but this early post op, can be more related to the anesthesia drugs we are given during surgery. I know I had a serious memory problem for about a year, and it was determined that it was likely caused by the "amnesia drug" I was given during surgery. Some of us are more sensitive to it than others.

So, I wouldn't blame it on the hormones just yet. Give yourself some time to recover from your surgery. Drinking lots of water can help flush out those surgery meds and also aid in healing.

I hope you have a very good recovery.
